Memberships

By joining Kiwi 4x4 Inc. as a full member you are also becoming a member of the New Zealand Four Wheel Drive Association Incorporated (NZFWDA). If, however, you are already a member of the NZFWDA through another club you can pay a lesser joining fee to become a full member of Kiwi 4x4. Membership to the club is open to anyone with an interest in off-road driving, whether you have a 4WD vehicle or not. Prospective members are encouraged to come along on a trip or two with us and see for themselves what is involved and meet the other members. This gives you a chance to find out if club membership is really for you and it also gives the other members a chance to get to know you. If you wish to come on any more trips/events, you are required to join the Club. All levels of 4WD vehicle capability and driver experience is catered for with trips graded from novice/family/shiny to hard yakka outings that are sure to test both driver and machine. The benefits of joining Kiwi 4x4 are:

As we have aligned ourselves with the NZFWDA membership structure, we now have a zone level membership structure to match theirs. This means that when you sign up as a member you will be allocated to a zone, based on where you live. The zones are Northern from North Cape to Taupo, Central from Taupo to Wellington and Southern covering all of the South Island. Here are some additional details about the memberships: Kiwi 4x4

  • Membership Year - 1st July to 30th June
  • New Members - $50 per annum or part thereof*, or $20 per annum for those already affiliated with NZ4WDA through another club
  • Existing Members - $50 per annum or part thereof*, or $20 per annum for those already affiliated with NZ4WDA through another club
  • Payment - Due 1 calendar month after receipt of application or end of the previous membership year
  • Membership Regions - Northern, Central, Southern

* Remember that it doesn't matter when in the period 1 July - 30 June you pay, you will always pay the same amount and it will only be for a fixed membership year of 1 July - 30 June. So if you join in May you will have to pay another renewal fee the following month! NZ4WDA

  • Fees due 20 July for members to get membership cards.

In order to protect the interests and safety of members, and the 4WD community as a whole, there are some safety requirements and conduct requirements that must be met by all members. Please view the policies page for more details.

Joining

Joining Kiwi 4x4 as a new member requires nomination by an existing financial member of the club. That member will then assist you with getting introduced to the club and oversee your probationary period of six months, after which your membership will be reviewed. Assuming that there are no serious conduct issues during that period your membership will be progressed to full membership. During the probationary period you will have the same access/rights as any other standard member. The steps required to join are:

  1. Find an existing member from the club to nominate you for membership. If you do not have any existing contacts within the club contact the Membership Officer who will get someone from your area to introduce themselves to you and see if they would like to nominate you

  2. Register an account on the Kiwi 4x4 website.
  3. Please fill kin ALL relevant details to make life easier down the track for emails and contacts
  4. Include the name of the person who is going to nominate you
  5. Ask the person who is nominating you to contact the Membership Officer, providing the following details:
    • Their full name
    • The statement "I wish to nominate [First Name] [Last Name] from [Region/City] to join as a new member of Kiwi 4x4. I will mentor/oversee them for the duration of the six month probationary period, where necessary."
  6. The Membership Officer will then match up the application with the nomination and then provide you with further information and bank account details to make your membership payment
  7. Your membership will become active and your login to the website and forums will be activated once your payment has been processed
